TI-Macedonia –

Transparency International Macedonia has been established in 2006 and is a member of the global coalition for fight against corruption Transparency International which has national chapters in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The vision of Transparency International Macedonia is elimination of corruption from the Macedonian society and the establishment of a system of rule of law and a society in which the citizens and institutions fight corruption and the unlawful policies.

The mission of Transparency International Macedonia is oriented towards analysis of the national legislation, comparative analysis and recommendations for improvement of the legal framework, detecting vulnerabilities in the laws and the legal framework that enable corruption, analysis of the national integrity system of Republic of North Macedonia through analysis of the anti-corruption pillars, cooperation with key stakeholders (public institutions, civil society, business community, media, citizens).

Transparency International Macedonia actively collaborates and is included in numerous networks on a national and international level. TI-Macedonia is a member of the Platform of Civil Society Organizations in the Fight Against Corruption, the Coalition for Protection of Whistleblowers of Southeast Europe (https://see-whistleblowing.org/), and UNCAC (United Nations Convention against Corruption https://uncaccoalition.org/).

What is corruption?

Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private interests. The manifestation of corruption can take many shapes and forms: bribery, nepotism, cronyism, clientelism, abuse of official position and authority, abuse of public funds and resources. Corruption destroys democratic governance and progress of one country and it weakens the public’s trust in the institutions and government.

Corruption is everywhere: politics, media, culture, education, health, business, judiciary, civil society, among citizens, as well as in other societal branches.

Mission of Transparency International – Macedonia

Transparency International Macedonia continously advocates for policies and laws that would change the system, eradicate and disable corruption. As a national chapter, and member of the global coalition for the fight against corruption Transparency International, it continously builds coalitions and networks with other partners and organizations to achieve its vision for a society and system free of corruption and strengthened public awareness, as well as the encouragement of the citizens and stakeholders to fight corruption. The objective of Transparency International Macedonia is the establishment of rule of law against the rule of corruption.
